Some good news!
And skirting around the post office
Ok so I have some good news!
But first, closing the loop on last week’s post office debacle.
After sending out my update, I got an unreal amount of support, optimism, and ideas of how to proceed.
Thank you!!!
The most common piece of advice was just try again at different post offices! So I did. I repacked all the seeds this weekend and shipped them yesterday. Fingers crossed 🤞! (If they don’t deliver by next week, we’ll arrange for a pick up).

Prayed to the Print gods that the toner wouldn’t run out at this WeWork on Saturday.

Dinner table post office
Ok so now for the good part.
Drum roll please.
Literally two minutes after hitting send on last week’s gut-punch email, I went outside and saw this:

I’m naming this patch the Goombas.
And then, a couple days later..

IT’S POSSIBLE??!?!?
I know I shouldn’t be that excited, but I am. So many experienced people said directly sowing seeds in a tree bed wasn’t going to be possible — and even though some said it was — this was the first time I’ve actually seen it myself. A long ways to go but so so encouraging to see.
Now that it’s possible, the focus is to make it easy.
As I talk to more people, I’m getting a better sense of what the most common challenges are and what people are doing to get over them (how to build a tree guard, how to deter dogs). Learning as we go — but tomorrow I’ll share tips and tricks that I’ve heard thus far from across the community!
Till then,
Mayank
P.S. If you have any questions or anything you’d like to see tomorrow or in these emails generally, you can reply to this email and let me know!
