Halfway there!!

Bright spots from the midpoint of milestone one

I woke up this morning and saw this —

🤯

Floored. We’re somehow halfway to our first milestone of 1,000 (!!!) — thank you so so much for signing up.

Have been spending a good portion of my time shipping out seeds (next batch ships today!) — but made a big push yesterday and should be straight-through processing for us here on out.

Envelopes, seed packets (in the kraft brown), and a “Mulch” card.
Ditched the whole blue string idea (for those who got the first batch)

Also — stamps cost $0.73 cents?!?!?

Up next:

  • Instructions on how to actually get these seeds into the ground. I had a wonderful call with the folks at Greenbelt Native Plant Center who said starting our seeds in tree beds was more than possible (the first folks who’ve confidently affirmed that it can be done; big change from last week)

  • They were transparent that the biggest challenges were 1) watering consistently and 2) preventing dogs / people from stepping there. In the short-term, the solution space for these obstacles is pretty well-defined (e.g. hand-watering, installing physical barriers or sign) — going to canvas the community before making a recommendation

  • Spotlighting other individuals and organizations working in this space. Have been a little shy getting in front of the camera but am going to start posting weekly videos starting this Thursday — so many cool people throughout the city are working towards this goal.

  • Getting together! Wanted to host something soon!! Thinking breakfast — if you’re interested, let me know below (so I can pick a big enough place!)
